October 2012 – Back to School Health Tips Part II

Hi All,

October is here and with it comes the beautiful change of season.  I hope and encourage everyone to enjoy some time outside appreciating the beauty and peace of nature.  Make sure to take time to connect with your inner self and the world around you.

 

IKeep you spine in shape and you will be happyn addition to the beauty of nature, October bring with it my favorite holiday, HALLOWEEN.  For me it is a little sad as my kids are now both in middle school and no more Halloween parades but being a Pediatric Chiropractor, I get to dress up and have fun with all the kids and adults that come in.  As a little heads-up, Stern Chiropractic will be a very fun place to be on Halloween with fun decorations, give aways and me all dressed up and ready to rock.  Make sure to schedule your family’s appointment on Halloween!

This month we will continue our Back to School Health Tips with how much sleep do you and your kids need and the importance of a Healthy Nerve System to perform at your highest level, be healthy and have your greatest experience of life.


 

Are You and Your Kids Getting Enough Sleep?

Life is hectic with all that is going on in your Is your child getting enough sleepown life combined with all of the things in your child’s life including tons of homework, sporting practices and games, after school activities, plans with friends, religious schooling …

Even with all of this, it is VITAL that growing children (and adults) get enough sleep.

Why is it vital and what is enough?

The Benefits of sleep include

  • Time for healing
  • Emotional Relief
  • Improves Brain Function
  • Boosts Immunity

How Much Sleep is Enough?

The following times were found in the research and may not be exactly right for everyone but a good rule of thumb is that if you are waking up rested and refreshed, you are getting the right amount of good quality sleep.  If you are not rested and refreshed, you are either not getting enough sleep or the quality of your sleep is poor.

Healthy Nerve System

How does your body know how to keep you balanced when you sit or stand, move yourNerve system interference is like traffic arm, adjust how many breathes you are taking so you have enough oxygen or how to digest food?

How Do You Address SUBLUXATION?
